Site Supervisor
Foynes to Limerick Road Project (including Adare Bypass)
Role
Work on Ireland’s largest archaeological project in 2024! Contribute to the different stages of the Foynes to Limerick Road Project, following the programme and supporting Site Director/Senior Archaeologist.
Excavation and recording of features as per AMS standards and guidelines. Responsible for the tracking of site records, artefacts, environmental samples, and registers. Maintain open communication with site staff and management. Responsible for supervising the completion of small to large scale projects and assisting with delivery of site records for post-excavation analysis.
Assisting in compiling site registers and stratigraphic descriptions where requested. Provide support in training and quality control of junior staff members following the AMS guidelines.
Main Duties
- Aware of project timescales
- Maintenance and care of site areas and equipment
- Organisation and care of site records, finds, samples and site archive
- Keep track of attendance/site timesheets
- Assist Site Director with data entry (site registers) and collaborate where requested on report stratigraphy
- Provide guidance, mentoring and on-the-job training for Site Assistants
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to Site Assistants as required
- Liaise with Site Director on issues of health and safety or any other issues raised by site staff
- Boost staff morale and improve the overall productivity of the team
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
- Ability to multi-task and work proactively and flexibly in support of changing workloads
Requirements
- Minimum 1+ years’ archaeological experience in the field or demonstratable competency
- Relevant archaeology degree
- Driver’s licence (desirable)
- Safe Pass/Manual Handling

- Good knowledge of archaeology and heritage
- Excellent knowledge of archaeological fieldwork processes
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office Word & Excel – minimum)
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent timekeeping
- Works independently/in a team
- Technical/specialist knowledge
