Finance Manager
Role Overview
AMS is seeking a Financial Manager to join our team in Kilrush, Co. Clare, Ireland. This is a full-time, permanent position. AMS operates a hybrid working model where the successful candidate can work from home with attendance at our head office in Kilrush (located on the world-famous Wild Atlantic Way).
This will be a key role in AMS. It will include managing the financial, risk and commercial aspects of AMS. The role will also involve contributing to the strategic direction and operational management of AMS as part of the AMS Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day finance function including payroll, invoicing, payments, treasury management etc
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Project financial controls and reporting
- Assessment of financial and commercial risks and opportunities
- Evaluation of investments and acquisitions
This role will entail working closely with and supporting all the different departments in the company. In particular, you will be responsible for Treasury Management and ensuring the smooth running of financial processes. You will be involved in cash flow forecasting, investing, risk assessment, and day-to-day operations like banking and invoicing.
Requirements
- Fully Qualified Accountant (Chartered, ACCA, CIMA) with 5 years’ experience with a commercial enterprise
- Prepare and collaborate on the monthly management accounts for the various departments
- Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning with the head of the different departments
- Identify risks and opportunities that may affect the financial performance of the company
- Manage all finance related processes, Debtors and Creditors, Bank Reconciliations, Journals, RCT, Corporation Tax, VAT and Payroll returns.
- Ensure financial compliance with all applicable laws and tax regulations (Ros and HMRC)
- Oversee and control all the financial aspects of the company
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple bank accounts (Ireland and UK)
- Excellent IT skills with proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as on your own initiative
- Strong focus on controls and processes and attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills with proficiency with the entire Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- Experience accounting programmes in Payroll, Sage 50 or Sage Payroll
- Experience in preparing Management Accounts (Ireland/UK)
- A valid visa to work in Ireland OR Irish or UK citizenship

Office-Based Report-Writing Archaeologist
Role Overview:
Based in our Head Office in Kilrush, Co. Clare, you will work with the AMS Excavation and Post Excavation teams and archaeological project managers across our network of offices.
This is an excellent opportunity to further your career in archaeological services. This role will entail working closely with and supporting our site directors and project managers in the delivery of reports, archiving and our post-excavation programme. A willingness to take on varied duties is required.
This position available from 1 January 2024. The application deadline 17 September 2023.
Tasks Required:
- assisting site directors complete monitoring, testing and excavation reports
- assisting site directors in the production of licence and method statements
- carrying out on-line and physical archival research for reports and/or method statements
- assisting the post-excavation department in the preparation of paper and artefact archives for deposition
Requirements:
- A positive and enthusiastic professional interested in an exciting career opportunity with a forward-thinking company

- A graduate in archaeology or a related discipline
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

- Demonstrable experience of producing maps with GIS
- Experience of working with SMR datasets
- Post-excavation skills including finds handling and labelling and eco- and artefact processing
- Familiarity/experience with NMI standards and procedures for archiving preparation and deposition for both paper archives and finds/samples archives
- Experience with desk-based research including the researching of archived materials and primary resources
- Experience with compiling specialist reports for analysis and discussion within post-excavation reports
- A full, clean Irish driving licence is desirable
- IAI and/or CIfA membership is desirable
